Samara Sharpe is a children's author based in Ireland and the creator of Little Dreams.
Her first picture-book project, Little the Giant, introduces readers to Giant Land and to Little, the smallest giant of all.
Samara Sharpe has lived her entire life in Galway and holds a BA in English and Political Science from NUIG. Writing has always been a passion of hers. She has spent many years working with children, first in a play centre and later in private childcare. That led her to a role in education, and since 2021, she has been working as a Special Needs Assistant in a primary school.
Working with children every day and seeing their love for stories encouraged Samara to follow her own dream of becoming a children’s author. With Little, she hopes to create stories that highlight kindness and inclusivity, while keeping a sense of adventure, magic and wonder. Little is her primary focus for now, but she has many other ideas she would love to bring to life.
The landscapes of Ireland are a great inspiration for Samara. Little’s homeland, for instance, is inspired by places in the West of Ireland, including Coral Beach in Co. Galway, the Cliffs of Moher and Aillwee Caves.
Little lives in Giant Land, where everything is made for giants much bigger than him.
Kind, curious and always ready for an adventure, Little discovers that being the smallest giant does not mean he cannot make a big difference.
The first Little the Giant picture book is currently in development.
